Notification Process
The following describes the processing of an emergency:
- Emergencies will normally begin with a call to UCPD;
- UCPD then confirms the emergency call;
- UCPD then calls the first response emergency resources (e.g., Chicago Fire Department [CFD], Chicago Police Department [CPD], the Safety Office, Facilities Services);
- UCPD notifies the Emergency Manager (EM);
- The EM notifies the Emergency Director (ED);
- The ED classifies the emergency;
- The ED notifies the Incident Commander (IC)
- The IC approves activating of the Emergency Management Plan (EMP);
- When authorized, the ED activates the EMP including the Emergency Watch Teams; and
- The Emergency Watch Teams follow watch procedures in accordance with their plans.
